I draw and paint the figure from a variety of sources including direct observation, found images and photographs.  I try to describe a momentary connection with the subject(s) but they remain elusive and unknowable while also portraying a sense of agency or presence.  Perhaps my subjects are represented somewhere between the recognisable, the real and the imagined.
